Folding arm retractable awnings uses moving swinging joints, along with high-quality fabric to create retractable shade. They can be mounted on several surfaces including walls, eave, beams or your roof.
The key feature of these awnings is they can fold away and stored when not used. They work by using springs that push the arms open using non-rusting stainless steel chains in the elbows of the awning itself, and this extends the fabric cover.
You will find them mostly over patios and decks but can be used anywhere shade is required. Retractable awnings can be extended or retracted to lay out shade as well as protection from harmful UV rays whilst allowing sunlight when retracted to enter a home in the colder months.
Residential and commercial retractable folding awnings can be either motorised or manual controlled. If they are motorised can be used in various ways including wall switches, remote controls, via a smartphone, voice-activated or even using wind sensors and rain/sun sensors.
CAN I ADJUST MY FOLDABLE AWNING?
At Designer Blinds And Plantations, all of our retractable awnings allow the ability to stop the awning at any point. Also, most of our awning models the custom made to adjust the angle of the arms and allow for rain runoff, UV glare, and heat protection depending on the conditions.
WHAT TYPES OF WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN FOLDING AWNINGS WITHSTAND?
The best folding arm awnings can withstand very strong winds and gusts up to approximately 32 kph model dependent. For wind beyond 32 kph, it would be advised to use a wind sensor or motion sensor to close the lateral arm awning automatically if the wind picks up.
Our awnings are designed for light rain only. No folding arm awnings are designed for heavy rain.
DO I NEED COUNCIL APPROVAL TO HAVE A FOLDING ARM AWNING?
In almost all cases, Designer Blinds And Plantations can create our awning solutions to be removable and therefore non-permanent thus not needing council approval.
